If I recall correctly, when I painted the ENTIRE carpet, I did have the checkmark and the Queen had a different comment that was more satisfactory and happy. The Queen will comment to the effect that the carpet is not painted that fits a queen, but she will still allow you to complete the quest. I'm going on a hunch, but I noticed if you paint the carpet until the checkmark appears, the carpet is only partially painted. When I saw the post yesterday that the Queen offered it, I decided to check it out.
I also happened to be rechecking all quest locations to mark down on my list of Gold bricks. To clarify, I did this quest before to get the gold brick and no egg. I've been using Custom Worlds, so the coordinates will not work for you. Do you have the coordinates of the world with that quest where she gives the egg or is it a custom world?
